Books I DNFd in 2017

All of the Best Books of 2017 posts have inspired me to consider the worst books I’ve read this year.

My goal at the beginning of the year was to DNF more books because last year I felt like I was finishing books I didn’t like, just for the sake of… I don’t know. For no reason.

So, these are the books I added to my Did Not Finish shelf on goodreads. I created this shelf so that I could stop picking up books I had tried and hated.

Note: I also have a shelf for DNF books that I want to come back to, for when I run out of time on a library loan or I think I'm just not in the right head space for the content or something. These are not those books. (I actually just moved some of these over to the other shelf as I'm reviewing them. I was deluding myself.)
Friday Night Lights: I was going to read this for the book about sports category for Read Harder. It was boring. And about football. But I repeat myself.

Line in the Dark: I got to chapter 16. It’s a mean rich girl story. I just could not care.

Sea of Poppies: This book might be one that I would love in some situations. There were two main character story lines that would eventually cross, I think. But, honestly, I felt like I was trudging to get to the good part. Plus, there’s a glossary. Too much work.

The Goshawk: I picked this book up because I want to read something by T.H. White. But apparently it wasn’t this.

Frog Music: I loved Room so of course I would love this. Nope.

Team Human: I love both of these authors! And I love vampires! What could have gone wrong that made me DNF this book!? I wish I had taken some notes or something. Try again?

Honorable mention to The Newlyweds which I am trying to give a chance to become more interesting.

  1. "It was boring. And about football. But I repeat myself." Hahahahaha.

I was excited to create my dedicated abandoned shelf so I didn't have to count the books as read. And I will quit a book even if I'm close to the end if it's boring me or pisses me off.
